Hi,
My rear suspension is very squeaky.
Anyone got any tips on what normally squeaks and what to do to stop it - lubrication or bush replacement?
It is a 1962 MK2 3.8
Thanks
Dave

Re: Squeaks
Hi,
The rubber bushes do get tired and fail, in particular the torque arm bushes (mine failed after 2 years, 8000 miles). I replaced all the rear bushes with a set from 'Polybush', but then took the centre spring pads and front spring pads out and replaced them with new rubber. I have been happy with the results.
You can replace all with new rubber for an improvement to original spec, but I would still recommend the torque arm bushes in soft poly.

Re: Squeaks
I had the same problem and did the same as Brian but still had a noise. It was from the leaf springs themselves. Having already dismantled to change the bushes and then re-assembled I was a bit lazy and just 'painted' on grease/WD40 to the leaves. After several applications and use of the car the noise went.
The springs will need changing sometime though as rust started leeching out from between them after this treatment.
