A company called EZ are now selling an all electric power steering conversion - has anyone any experience of this kit?

Elsewhere on this forum I believe Ken Jenkins is quoted as saying there can be problems with steering angles and scrub with racks on Mk2's. Does anyone have any info/thoughts on kits like the M C Wilkinson one? I understand the EZ kit is a totally different beast in that it powers the column using the existing steering box and is not supplied for DIY fitting.

I've actually just had this fitted a few weeks ago.
It's a really good addition and makes the car considerably lighter to drive at low speeds and makes parking and manouvering really easy.
Takes about 12 hours for them to fit and and is hidden away under the trim panel beneath the steering. The only evidence that it is there is a silver dial on the underside to change the weighting of the steering at lower speeds and a fuse. But as there is no real change under the bonnet there is no significant change to the car itself and if necessary it could be returned to original with minimum effort.
Gives the car a different feel at lower speeds as you no longer have to haul it muscularly around. But it means now that my wife can easily drive it (good thing?) and in the modern world of tight carparks you can now go anywhere without fear of busting a blood vessel!
I'm still getting used to it but haven't had a lot of time to drive it since I got back from Devon where I had the work done due to it overheating on the way back!!!! Another job to attend to. But overall it compliments the car and makes for a very pleasant drive - particularly around tight and twisty country lanes.
Mike that does the conversions is very personable, friendly and accomodating. He's based in Teignmouth. I think he does travel to do it as well though but as I was down in Devon on holiday i just had it done there.
Overall, I'm very happy with it. There's a couple of adjustments that I'd like to be made (self cancelling indicators don't at the moment!) but Mike instantly agreed to rectify this as soon as he's in my area.
The steering comes with a 12 month warranty. Cost about £2,200 so isn't cheap but I think it's worth it overall.
I was going to get my wood restored but opted for this instead and am very happy with the choice.
