I am thinking of converting my 1964 Mk 2 to power steering and would welcome some feedback about which seems to be the best way of doing it. Do I go for a later Jaguar model i.e. XJ or do I go for one of the advertised electric fitments?
At the moment I have the engine out of my car as it is being re-built so this would seem to be an appropriate time to fit it.
Any information very welcome.

Power Steering Conversion
Hi Barry,
There is a similar comment in the section 'Brakes'.
I decided I needed power steering and asked advice from Ken Jenkins, his comment was that the geometry of the MkII is set up for a steering box and can be upset by using a steering rack as at some angles the tyres will scrub. He advised using the later 'Marples' power steering as fitted to the 420.
I fitted a complete 420 subframe and used an XJ3 steering pump with an extra pulled grafted onto the existing one on the crank and pipes made up locally.
The steering is very light, so care needs to be taken when first used, but there are far fewer turns lock to lock.
I'm happy with the result.
