sng barrett power steering

Postby desmondocallaghan359 » Sat Jun 03, 2023 10:09 pm

My Mark 2 has an early, ( circa1998), SNG Barrett power steering conversion kit. I need to replace the power steering belt which has no identification numbers. Barretts do not know where that size of belt was sourced from. Has anyone out there got one with a similar conversion and can advise me what the belt comes from?
Failing that can anyone give me advice to overcoming the problem? Many thanks.

Hello Desmond,

if you have the original, take it to an engineering supplier who have a measuring tool for vee belts and should be able to match your old one.
Should you not have the original, obtain a longer belt of the correct width and cut it to length, use superglue to form it back into an endless belt and take that to be measured.

Thanks for the advice. My garage obtained a belt which fits but is too long. I'll pass that your suggestion onto them.
