Lower Steering End Yolk

Help!!! I've just broken the end yolk of the lower steering column. The car is MK2 3.8 chassis number 2006480.

When I took the part off it was extremely tight on the spline. Trying to refit it proved impossible without widening the hole which I did by tapping a chisel into the split. Although this worked for the top journal the bottom journal split.

From the parts manual the part is 8046 End Yoke (plate 80 - 9). Trouble is nobody I can find has this part in stock.

Does anybody therefore, know of anybody that can supply this part. If the worst came to the worst I could weld it but I'm extremely reluctant to do so.

Any help or advice greatly appreciated.

Hi,

You could try ringing Ken Jenkins he has a lot of second hand stock.

I'll have a look in my garage loft tomorrow (back playing up at present) as I replaced all that lot with links from an XJ6 many years ago. There might be something left up there.

Thanks very much for the response. I think I've managed to track one down. Can't be absolutely sure it's the right part so won't know until it gets here. Many thanks for your help though and I hope your back gets better.
