Throttle linkage adjustment

I serviced the carbs and despite carefully assembling the linkage and the connectors between the 2 SU HD6 carbs (on my 3.8S) the throttle pedal remains quite stiff. It all seems free when disconnected so I wonder if the pedal linkage isn't set up correctly, perhaps not giving the right leverage at the two points, the pedal pivot and carb spindle pivot. Is there a specific setup for these?

Hi Chris,sorry for jumping on the post but did you manage to sort this?? I’m encountering the same problem after I’ve just serviced my HD6 carbs. Cheers Matty

Hello Matty,

Yes there si a specific adjustment for the linkage betwwen the support bar attached to the front of carburettors and the throttle spindle.The acelerator linkages attaches to this and the attachment point should be 1/16" lower than the centreline of this linkage. I.e. the linkage is not quite straight but is a very shallow angle downward. The throttle lever attached to the carburettor throttle spindles should be vertical also.
