HD6 Carb Needles

I have a May 1968 registered mark 2 340 chassis No P1J51527BU,with HD6 carbs that are playing up and so intend to get a repair/service kit. I'm trying to find out what the correct needle size is that I need, as so far I have been advised by one Jag specialist that I need a 'TM', and by another I need a 'TL'. Carbs are somewhat of a mystery to me, so wanted to ensure I get the right spec in before the car goes to a friendly mechanic. Any help would be much appreciated.Phil

In my parts book you need T.L , it says the T.M is for the 7:1 compression ratio !

For all things SU I would suggest you talk to Burlem Carburettors . Not only are they an excellent supplier but their technical department is most helpful as well.
Burlem Carburettors , Spitfire house -- can't remember the rest but they advertise in the Mag -- come back if you can't find it and I'll dig out their phone number

Jag 340 has come up with the all the info on Burlem Fuel Systems.
It's worth reading the history of both SU and Burlem - they are the only people worth speaking to on this subject.
As it said in the history that Unipart was involved in the mix . It just so happens that I was at Unipart at the time . A pal of mine was involved (lumbered ) with sorting out vast quantities of SU stock. It was really unbelievable the amount that came from Birmingham. Not only stock but books containing charts with needle requirements for every applicable vehicle, etc ,etc. I guess that was in the nineteen eighties .
During that time I obtained an SU Butec overhaul manual which I used recently as a guide to overhauling the double pumps on my old XJ12 which included the test procedure.
