I,ve been restoring a mk2 for the past 3 years and am in the process of referbing the quarterlight windows, Ive, removed the glass with helpfull hints from aceman, and had the frames rechromed and the glass polished. I,m trying to reasemble but cannot find the right u channel rubber that goes around the glass then fit into the channel of the window frame, I have ordered four different sizes now,and cant get any help from the usual sorses, it is working out very expensive, Just wondering if u channel rubber would be better than square u rubber. Can anyone who has restored there quarterlight windows recomend a supplier.

If you are talking about the l shaped piece that fits to the glass ,i gave up looking and used some rubber from an old inner tube.Tried a few different ones untill i got one that was just right .Fitted with a slight smear of vaseline and then trimmed the excess with a stanley knife.Job done and cost nothing as i got the old inner tubes from the local tyre fitters from their scrap pile.

Hello Jim,

also be aware that automotive upholstery suppliers sell rubber strip for window glass. If you measure the frame and glass you can work out what thickness of rubber you require?
