Water in the front footwell

My car is leaking water in the front footwell of the drivers side (thats left side on my car), and I guess my car is not the first MK2 to have a water leak. I have changed the door seal and next in line is to fix the sealing on the windscreen. The seals on the wipers, washers and airscoop looks a bit tatty. Will a leak from wipers, washers and airscoope end up with water in the footwell or are any water in this areas drained some where else? Thanks for any help.

It's worth waiting for the good weather to dry it out and do some tests to rule things out one at at time. The hose (or pressure washer) test works well on any car if you do it carefully. I'd start by trying the windscreen washer when the car is dry inside and see if there is any water after you use it. I believe there are plastic tee pieces in the plastic line all of which could crack. The scuttle vent should be relatively easy to check as you can direct water straight into it and see if any ends up in the footwell. (I'd avoid turning on the radio for a while afterwards if there is one fitted as if the water gets in that it won't do it much good). I think there is supposed to be a drain tube from it but I have yet to find out where it comes out on my car, and if that is blocked it could be where it is coming from.
The windscreen one is probably the hardest to confirm as the water could run off to various places and end up in the car. How about under the battery tray or around the pedal box, water could easily get in there too. Not directly Mk2, but on my 406 I spent over a year tracing the water getting into the footwells, and it turned out to be getting on through the doors themselves, down past the window seals and through rips in the weatherproofing plastic sheets behind the door cards. Spent about £100 on door seals for nothing!
