Hi guys and a very merry Christmas....I’m in the middle of restoring a MK2 Jag, I’ve battled through removing about 3inches of bitumen undercoat and look like I’ve been working down the pit for a week lol. The body is in great condition with only a few small rust holes that have now been repaired. The plan in to clean up the rest of the underneath....wire wheel/ poly paint strip discs and a load of elbow grease...once done I’ll degrease, sand and primer....the question is what is the best primer/chassis paint etc to use??Ii was contemplating leaving it all in the hands of the pros (can anyone recommend any decent ones near Portsmouth/Southampton????)but am a keen DIY er and do get satisfaction from doing it myself but clearly this is balanced against a good result lol...thanks for any advice Matty

I did mine about 20 years ago with Hammerite and then covered it in Waxoyl/Dinotrol depending if it was subject to harsher conditions like wheel arches. Seems to have lasted well but not original! I just wanted it to last. Be interesting to see what others say.
Although messy I like doing things like that as it gives some satisfaction when done and you know what has been done.

Bondaprimer, dulux gloss then Dinitrol underbody and cavity wax 20 years ago very little remedial work since other than cavity wax every 4 years.

Hi, does anyone have any tips on rust proofing/ cavity injection? are there any cavities that get missed. I was thinking of the front and rear of the sills. Can I access the inside of the sills from the outside of the car? That is without removing carpet. We just want to use the car and hold back the rust.

I was wondering what the hole was for on the forward side of the rear wheel arch.

Could it be used for access to the entire sill? ie introduce a long spray probe.
It is a bit late for me. I have already made other access holes.
