Mk2 front door locks

The drivers door on my early Mk2 self locks on closing door. Unlocks ok from inside and with the key. I have a workshop manual which illustrates the mechanism but cannot figure out what needs adjusting. Any advice

That sounds most peculiar. Are you sure the door actually locks or could it be that the external door handle button is failing to release the closed but unlocked door? Many door handle buttons can have their depths adjusted by a bolt and locknut arrangement. Mike.

I have a similar problem with my driver's door on my Daimler. If I let the door close under its own weight, it sometimes locks and the key is required to open it. Or I go in through the quarter light! AlecG.
