Mark 2 Battery

Postby thistle » Thu Jul 04, 2024 11:43 am

I need a new battery for my 2.4 l Mark 2. The one I have just removed was supplied from stock by a garage during a mot so I am not sure if is the correct specification or the nearest one they had in stock. My car is negative earthed and registered in 1963. What capacity should the battery be?
Thanks
Anthony

Thistle, I am not a purist so would always replace my battery with one of as high an Ampere hour rating as will physically fit. I believe that the original dynamo output was about 45Amps, my alternator is 70 Amps, but if your car has been modified with electric power steering, spot lights air con etc etc then you need more power. If you are a purist and have no modifications and want to fit a battery to the original specification someone else will need to provide the information as unfortunately I do not have it. Tony D
