BRG Paint Colour

Postby simonsmith545 » Wed Jan 03, 2024 4:05 pm

Hi All, Thanks for any help with the paint codes for a BRG 1958 mk1 or a company that can might help.

I really like the dark one but it’s not proving very easy to get the shade code.

Thanks again for any help.

Hi Simon, not sure if you have access to a "friendly" paint shop, but if you do then the solution is relatively simple. Any good paint shop has literally hundreds of sample cards, in dozens of books, covering practically every known manufacturer and colour / shade. When I was looking to replicate a particular metallic green (for my Kawasaki motorbike), not overly dissimilar to BRG, we found the best match in a Peugeot paint chart. Once you have the swatch code, the paint shop can then produce a couple of test cards based on the computer instructions. Please note that the final colour can vary significantly depending on the primer undercoat. Some require a white base, others a black base and most often a light grey base. Where the older paint codes cannot be determined simply, there is a trial and error element to the process.

Good luck.

Thanks Jim for taking the time reply, much appreciated.

Agree and their are Plenty of colour code charts on line as well but I will need to sign off on one and really want to make sure I have the right one.

Hello Simon,

this vendor has been in the business along time and specialises in cellulose paint.:-https://www.carrestorationpaints.co.uk/

It would be worth a telephone call, I would think, and explain what you need? They provided the opalescent paint for my MK 2.
