making brake pipes

I need to replace a couple of brake pipes on my 3.4 and I'd like to make my own.
A couple of questions occur to me.
1) What size are the pipes on MK2 Jags? I think they are probably 3/16OD?
2) I know that one can buy the Automec set ready made which is tempting, but I need a caliper bridge pipe and I don't think that is included?
3) Has anyone a recommendation for a good pipe flaring tool? The Machine Mart tool is reasonably priced, but I've heard that its not very good?
I used to make brake pipes for people when I worked in a corner petrol station and spares shop as a kid, but I've never had to make my own!
Cheers
