Hallo. I'm a new Jaguar S-Type 3,4 l man owner. The car has run 73000 km and not used for the last 12 years. Yesterday I changed oil og engine and gearbox. The gearbox has a O/D and I open all the drain plugs and clean everything before putting on new oil. Then I took the car out on the road and everything was ok. Until I came home and should put the car into the garage. The car wouldn't go backwards. When I put it in reverse and tried to move the car, a noise like the brake is on came. In neutral the car move, also drive forward. Most of the new oil on the gearbox is on the floor now. Anyone have an idea what the problem is?
Thanks for answers and regards form Norway.

Re: Gearbox or O/D problem?
Hello Torehoi,
it doesn't sound good, especially the bit about all the gearbox oil being on the floor.
It's quite difficult to give an accurate diagnosis from the description but coupling the oil loss and that the car drives when in neutral indicates that some seizure has occurred within the gearbox itself.
