Hi knowledgeable ones,
3.4, 4 sync manual with overdrive.
I was under the car at the weekend doing its oil change and noticed that the the long threaded bolt through the center of the gearbox cross member looked like it was missing some parts? it was leaning at an angle and looks like it should have at least a large nut and washer????
I have looked in my manual and parts catalogs, but they aren't shown anybody can enlighten me, its a little concerning!
thanks
Keith

Re: Gearbox cross member
It should have a hole in it and is generally fitted with a pin and washer which is removed after the gearbox is fitted]. Ive just removed my gearbox and the pin on mine is bent towards the rear of the car; probably because it has hit something like a speed hump.
Re: Gearbox cross member
Hi, there is a picture of this area on page B.67 of the Jaguar service manual if that helps with a description.

Re: Gearbox cross member
Thanks Gents,
it appears that somebody replaced the pin with a threaded bolt at some point! i have obtained a complete cross member with the correct fittings which i'm in the process of painting ready to replace. This was prompted recently by the MOT examiner raising a concern over it, not that its a reason for failure, but thought it was incomplete and unsafe!
