Cylinder head colours

Hi there,
Can anyone tell me the correct colour for '66 3.8 S type head and where to buy from? Also which paint should I use for the block?

Hello Jason,

the cylinder head should be blue, I suggest trying one or two of the marque specialist spares suppliers? They could possibly also supply a suitable block paint. I've used smooth Hammeriote in the past although it is not the paint it used to be.

Hi there
On my one I used engine enamel from frost www.frost.co.uk/ and for the block I used one coat heat resistant enamel from international paints, Which came up really well and has lasted.

Thanks for the info. I've looked on the Frost link before but wasn't sure which shade of blue to use. Any ideas on which looks best for the Jag head?

I dont want to advise you just incase you dont like the shade, what I did was got the catalogue and it shows you the colours and look at the classic tin range they do but what I found was the paint was slightly lighter then what was in there catalogue hope this helps.

Hi everyone,
I’ve started restoring my 1961 Mk2 fitted with a 3.8 litre engine. At some point, I will repaint the cylinder head in its original metallic blue colour.
Could anyone provide me with the exact metallic blue paint colour code used by Jaguar in 1961?
