oil leak

Seems i have an oil leak at the rear of the sump and looking at the workshop manual it looks as though there is a half seal roughly where the oil is coming from is it possible to remove the sump with the engine in the car or just put up with the leak which is more annoying than anything

The sump can be removed once the front suspension beam has been also removed.

This is not as big an operation as it may seem - it also gives you a chance to renew the suspension rubbers, change the brake fluid etc.

The biggest challenge is likely to be disconnecting the flexible brake hoses. Beware the beam and springs are a fair old weight - it will take two people to lift it once you've got it lowered to the floor. I did this on my own. I just couldn't lift it once I'd got it out!

That looks a big lump to remove i will have to think about that but thanks for the info

It's not as big a lump as the engine is!

It was easy, just needed a decent trolley jack - couple of hours work at the most and that was solo.

Putting it back was simple enough with an assistant.
