Air filters

Hi all,

I'm wondering about fitting some pancake filters to replace the bulky standard filter assembly. Does anyone have any experience of this, i.e. is it worth doing? Also, if I do make this mod, what do I do with the oil breather?

Hi,

Sometime ago I had an ignition fault I couldn't source so went to a very good tuning guy with a rolling road to find it. He did, but we also took some power runs on petrol and LPG, with and without the air filter as I was considering changing from the pancake to the later silencer shaped type.

The power output was identical with or without the filter. From my reading it seems the XK engine is capable of more power but with a drastic reduction in MPG, so for the road Jaguar restricted the breathing with manifold and small carburrettors so as to sell them.
