The dipstick on my 3.4 just kind of wobbles about. Can anyone tell me please, is there supposed to be some kind of support bracket that holds the dipstick in situ and, if so, what does it look like and where does it fasten to the engine?
Regards to all

Hello Nock,
no, there is no supprt bracket, it should be a tight fit in the block. Try tapping it down with a block of wood and a hammer, or a soft faced hammer? (Dipstick out of course

Hi Alec,
The dipstick hole in my block is much too big a diameter for the dipstick ever to be a tight fit. Is there supposed to be a bush or similar to reduce the effective size of the Orifice?
Kind regards

Hello Rick,
I'm not sure exactly what you have. There should be a tube fitted to that hole, into which the dipstick is inserted? I assumed that what you meant was that the tube was loose? Alec
