Hello can anyone recommend a engine rebuilder for a 3.8 etype now that Vse have gone

Paul, it depends whereabouts you are. I had mine done by Stephen Heywood Jaguar in Rochdale, Manchester but I guess thats not much help if you are a distance away.

Hi,

A company recommended to me by a very reputable Jaguar man is Chesman's of Coventry (https://www.chesmanengineering.co.uk/). A good outfit, they do a lot of Jaguar stuff together with exotica - they had Ferrari stuff on their job list when I used them - and more humble marques.

They rebuilt my 3.4 head, with new valve seats, guides, valves, springs, follower guides, followers and turned it round quickly (they can also do upgrades if you wish). They also rebuilt the head for me as I was under severe time pressure! Price wasn't cheap, but the maxim 'buy cheap, buy twice' comes to mind. When I get around to rebuilding the bottom end they'll be on my list.

Nice bunch of guys there too.
