Alternator Bracket
Moderators:Aceman, ecosselynx
Hi again, long story but I would now like to fit an alternator to my 1968 240 as I am also going to fit an easysteer and need the extra amperage. However i am told that i must source an alternator mounting bracket which is my problem. I have scoured ebay and the usual online jag suppliers without success. If anyone has information, a supplier, a drawing or anything that can help it would be appreciated.
Re: Alternator Bracket
Try Hollygrove Jaguar - they have an incredible Alladins Cave of old parts. Ask for Will Everett on 01425 477000.
Re: Alternator Bracket
Thanks David, will do, first thing tomorrow
Re: Alternator Bracket
Hi David, and hopefully others. Apparently there is no such thing according to Will. Have tried some other potential sources without any joy. So, if anyone has done this upgrade and has any info, photos, drawings, anything, it would be appreciated.

Re: Alternator Bracket
You could always fit a Dynator (equivalents are available) which exactly mimics a dynamo externally but has a modern alternator inside. I've not done so myself, but apparently all existing mounts are retained. Bypassing the dynamo control box will also be needed, and don't forget your ammeter probably only copes with 30A...
Worth a look methinks

Re: Alternator Bracket
Thanks Ronnie but i have just returned a new posative earth dynator in favour of fitting a 60 amp negative earth alternator so that i can have an easysteer fitted. ( electric power steering, search easysteer in bolton) Anyway as it turned out an 8mm threadded bar from B&Q and a few spacers was all that was needed. Turned out to be very easy.
