Oil pressure sender

Can anyone shed light on how to remove the oil pressure sender unit? Access appears tight from both above and below. I'm thinking that removing the oil filter bowl might help but would appreciate advice from someone who has already done the job before I start barking up the wrong tree.

I have done this job a number of times and I always remove the oil filter canister to improve access.

I should also add that given the importance of the item I have converted to a mechanical gauge on my own car, ditto the temperature gauge.
