CARBS

Postby Nickyb16 » Mon Oct 19, 2009 8:39 pm

I have recently fitted a 420g with triple carbs into my Mk2, the engine runs and revs up fine but when out on the road the engine is holding back, the engine has short bellmouths fitted to the carbs, 6 branch mannifold, straight through silencers, I think it needs the needles changing in the carburettors. Could anybody advise me if they think it is the needles or something else causing the problem.

The standard UM needle is too lean for this sort of set up. With no air filters and a straight-through exhaust, try UVO needles - they should be ideal for most cars modified like this using twin or triple 2" carbs.
