Rev counter panel light goes out when column shift moved

Postby RichT » Tue Nov 13, 2012 10:53 pm

Hi I have a 61 mk 2 3.4 auto with an odd gremlin, when the column change is in park the rev counter panel light works fine but as soon as you move to neutral it goes out I wonder if anyone can shed some light  apologies for obvious pun

Got to bottom of prob, there was no earth to tachometer, when in park the clock reset cable which was hiding behind dash was making an earth, when the transmission moved into neutral cable shifted and earth broken, just thought I would post the solution in case anyone interested

Just read this and was thinking it a connection problem aggrevated by the movement of the gear shift ,but as you say ,you`ve already found it.Wish all problems were so easilly sorted.

I echo previous comments and would add that it is nice to see an 'end of thread', ie an answer to the original posting and perhaps 'closing'the thread.

I'm sure we've all been on Boards where the initial question seems of interest but there is no conclusion, merely more 'noise'.

Amen to good manners!
