Wiring looms in the sills

Hi, can anyone tell me why my old looms are routed through the sills. I have rewired the front of my 240 and will be doing the dash back to the boot soon but do not intend routing the new looms through the sills, unless there is some reason why i should. ???

that is how Jaguar originally ran the loom. It's your car and your choice?

As Alec said, that is how they did it. Causes much mayhem if you have to do sill repairs! Just check that any repacement loom will fit the route you intend to follow as they would be designed to go into the sills and pick up such things as the door light switches. Otherwise I am with you, inside the car would be better.
