Hi, has anyone fitted a Dynalite or Dynator to there cars if so do they work ok?
I've got power steering with the pump driven by the dynamo so these dynamo conversions seem to be the best solution to change from a dynamo to alternator.

Hello Dave,
is your current dynamo unable to power your car? If you do convert will it be positive earth as some (most?) Mk 2 S.U. fuel pumps are polarity conscious? You will need to change the diode if the conversion is negative earth. (And coil polarity of course, but you probably know that?)

Hi
I was interested in this when SNG first started selling alternator replacement in the dynamo body. Called them and asked if they did a version to drive my steering pump, said they'd call me back! Called again was told they didn't do one, even asked to talk to their manufacturer, with the view of them making one. They couldn't do that.
Neg earth is no problem as I already made the switch as I did that back in 1998. Now glad to see somebody has finally done it, but at 714 GBP I'll give it a miss. You do get free delivery in the UK.

Hi all,
my car is already neg earth the problem is battery drain due to modern radio
and clock. If i start the car I need to go for a drive to charge the battery back up [not a bad thing as I love driving the car] but a problem if I just want to get something out of the garage as the dynamo wont charge on tick over.
The Dynalite version sell at just over £440 if you send the old dynamo back to them.

Hello Dave,
why not use a trickle charger so the battery is kept full charged? The odd start without a run will not then be a factor, assuming the battery is in good order?
