May I suggest you start getting your reg number reinstated as soon as possible as it may not be an easy operation.
It depends on how much information you have on your car, engine number, chassis number, gearbox number, old number plates, old log books, mot certificates insurance certificates and the like.
What information do you have, when was your car last on the road?
I bought my wreck from a guy who had got a V5 for it, but when I came to apply for the first road tax in 40 years it had not been transferred to the computer records when they were set up and so my original number plate is now non-transferable (good!), but they would not accept my old mot's and insurance certificates that named 4 other owners, so now I am the second owner of it (first being the guy who got the V5).
It may well be worth a call to the JEC office who will advise you of how to go about it.
With engine number (if original) chassis number, gearbox number (if original) and colour of car and trim the club can issue a build sheet type certificate for a small sum but the reg number would have been applied for by the dealer who originally sold the car, not Jaguar.
Best of luck,
Brian
