After 10 years veerrrry slowly doing her up ,my 420 will be on the road next week.Already insured for the road and booked for new tyres next week then straight in for the mot and a free tax disc then get some driving done.Never thought it would ever happen,i`m so excited. The only limiting factor will be how much fuel i can afford to put in her.Already eyeing up lots of stuff i dont use to sell on ebay and add to the fuel fund.

Hello 4v8s,if you look about half way down this page you will see a title ,a few pics of project. That`s all i have as i lost all the bodywork pics when my last computer died, serves me right for not backing them up.One day i will get all i have and put them all in an album but they are everywhere.I`m still waiting on tyres at the moment, getting fed up now, need to be out in it.
Don`t give up ,i nearly did and lot`s of things have stood in my way including losing half my weekly free time when my shifts were changed and recently splitting with the wife and not to mention the recession meaning pennies got rather rare.It will be worth it in the end but there will be things you will do twice as you will be learning a lot of new skills and you wont be happy with the 1st results all the time.I have done everything myself to save money and that`s including welding ,bodywork and paint, trimming, electrical and mechanical. The body has been done 8 years now and there are 2 or 3 tiny spots of rust starting again but thats not bad considering it lives in a car port that is two feet too short for the car.I ended up converting my mig welder to gasless wire as the gas kept gettig blown away working in the wind tunnel that is my carport, not the best cosmetic welds but after cleaning them up all was fine. It`s harder than you would ever imagine and you start out thinking that some stuff will be ok as it is but by the time you`ve done everything else you`ll end up doing the other bits as well.Mine started as a three month tart up ten years ago  .
Good luck and a never ending pot of patience, you will need it,Howard/jagaz.
ps ,if you need anything, just ask i`ll do my best to help as others on here do.

Thanks that's good to know. Yes I do need to learn some new skills, but I know how you have felt then over the years - I still have a part restored '74 stingray I started as a light project in 2006 and now it sits under a cover 24/7. Just lost interest and moved on to other things but one day i'll come back to it. I may have bitten off more than I can chew again with this Jag though but I do like getting to know a new old car, if you see what I mean.

Anyway hope you are enjoying driving it very soon!

A little update that is way overdue. I didn't manage to get the old girl on the road last year due to a marital split and having to sort somewhere to live for me , the dog and my toys. The 420 sat outside my old place until around June with no exhaust and no rear subframe due to needing a rebuild of the whole rear setup.
After losing the wife and gaining a new house with huge workshop round the back (a fair swap I think ) , I have now got her on the road. Mot'd, taxed and insured since Friday night and having done seventy five miles in wind , ice and driving rain but yet to see any sunshine, I AM LOVING EVERY MILE.!!!!!!!
She still has jobs that need finishing but with the biggest of smiles I am driving it as she was intended, daily.
I am going to start taking some pictures of her in all weathers and places so will post them as and when.
Roll on summer !!!!!!!!!
