Just in case anyone is interested but too shy to ask the 1100 tpm speedo seems correct for this model problems were an oiled up cable contaminating the sppedo head and a pointer not set at the white dot just below the 0 mph stop. Works fine now to within 2-3 mph :D

I think most models of this era got the 140mph speedo as the e-type had it. Commonality accross the model range saved money & probably did no harm to sales if your Mk2 speedo went higher than the car could...

Hi

Just for information, while 2.4 cars had 120 MPH speedo's and 3.4 & 3.8 cars had the 140 speedo'd the important thing is the TPM (Turns Per Mile) which is the caliberation figure. The speedometer installed into the car was dependent on the gearbox and rear axel ratio to ensure correct indicated road speed.

Just to finish the post the tpm 1100 is correct I have got the speedo working now problem was oil contamination and pointer having been pushed on c 5 degrees too clockwise, still a bit wavery and out a bit above 70 prob needs a professional rebuild but good enough to keep me out of trouble with the cops

Cheers
