Re: Wheeler Dealers
Struggling to decide which was the worse programme, this or Classic Car Rescue's attempt to turn a sow's ear of an E Type into a silk purse (they failed miserably)
The MK2 on Wheeler Dealers was just sad. So, fairly obviously serious engine problems - 'cured' with the simple cleaning of the engine breather filter. Similarly, probably knackered clutch and/ or synchro - just change the master and slave cylinders - miraculous! Bet we could all do with some of Mike Brewer's 'workshop luck'.
So, bought the car for just under 7 grand and sold it for 8 and a bit - when you take account of the labour, the job cost them money!
Car was still a shed at the end (Brewer assumed there was no rot, since the paintwork was so loverly and shiny - schoolboy error) - at least they managed to weld the hole in the exhaust - fascinating stuff!
The guy who sold it to them 'fessed up to a hole in the chassis somwhere, but our bold experts couldn't find it....
Finally, when is leather not leather? When it's Ambla!! I got sick of hearing about how wonderful the replacement 'leather' interior was.
1 out of 10 - must try a lot harder!

Re: Wheeler Dealers
I haven't seen the Mk2 Wheeler dealer episode yet... I'm sure we'll have ample repeats to make up for it, tho. It sounds as if this follows the tried & tested modus operandi, fix a couple of faults, add some new trim & claim a 'profit'! Were they dependant on making a proper profit, Mike Brewer would be a lot slimmer...
I did see the E-type episode, though, and although, if E-types were within my price range, I'd have one like a shot, it wouldn't be that one... luckily the valuer gave it a good enough valuation that allowed them to claim a profit... it would be interesting to see if they sold it 7 what the did get for it...

Re: Wheeler Dealers
Was quite impressed that they went to the trouble of using the correct crank case breather hose as a replacement - but what was the 'catch can' full of pitch black 'oil' all about? I have never seen such a can before....would be interested to know if anyone can shed any light on that and exactly what it was full of....
