Hi
I have dreamed of owning a MK2 and as I am close to retirement the possibilty is good.
My only concern is that I suffer with back problems.
My question is what is the seting and comfort like especially when touring 200 plus miles?
Any coments would be welcome.

Hi Mike, my MK2 has standard fixed front seatbacks - not massively comfortable on a long run in my opinion.

You possibly need to look for a car with the reclining seats which were fitted at the time as a (now very desirable) option - by Reutter - or look for a car which has had more contemporary, fully adjustable, seats fitted in the front (XJ40 or similar).

All the best

Unfortunately I to have suffered neck and back injuries and my MkII wasn't comfortable for 250 miles per day on the entente cordiale. But we have since found that most of it was due to having the wrong front springs in (too soft front springs believe it or not) and poorly rebuilt seats (but still expensively done).

If the car is set up properly then they are reasonably comfortable, but not as good (in my opnion) as a modern car. I believe the later 'S' type or 420's are better if you can find one. Last year as a comparison to mine I drove a very nice MkII 3.4 that Ken Jenkins was selling for a customer, try giving him a ring if your are nearby.

Hi

My own car has the correct set-up of springing for me and I've also had the front seats re-built to stiffen them up. With this I can do a Forfar to Folkstone run (approx 550 miles) stopping only for fuel etc and do the same again next day. I have done this trip repeatedly over the the last few years.
