Hi folks
My Jag passed its MOT this week, back on the road again after 18 months. Happy days.

As Mother Nature seems determined to unwrap the cucoon on my Jag, I stripped off the outer layer last Wednesday. I thought I may as well connect up the battery, wind it up and let it's growl annoy the neibours for a while. No such luck. Before I got started on the inner layer, it started snowing. reaching blizzard conditions by the time I got the new outer cover fitted. The boys in the gritter lorries all waved as they drove past. I'm bloody sure they only come down my road to piss me off.

Next morning, the new outer cover, which is made of nylon, had somehow managed to slide out from under all the bungee straps without disturbing any of them. Spooky or what, but it does get a bit draughty up here. So a large tarpaulin and 30 yards of rope have now been used instead.

Just bought some wheels on ebay and hope to pick them up this week. He has been let down by a buyer on his 1961 2.4, so I'll be giving it a once over. I ain't got anywhere to keep it though. Anyone else interested?

Protection from the elements

Postby smiffy » Tue Mar 10, 2009 10:23 pm

Hi Johnny
Commiserations, hope the wind/weather improves. I'm lucky, I've a garage and an understanding wife! Nevertheless, time to fire up the welder and fix the holes in the rear wheel arches so we can cruise in the wet without filling the rear seat well with water.
Don't let the b*****s grind you down.
Best wishes, Dave

I had to move the Jag out of the way for some building work to comence. Pumped up a tyre and connected the battery. Brrrrm, away she went, no problem, but it does mean that for the past month she's been parked up and re-cuccooned at a neighbours, so I've not been working on her. Too busy making tea for the builders.

Building work all done, just waiting for the scaffolders to come and dismantle their meccano set to make room for the Jag to come home. Looking forward to getting stuck in to exploring her wiring.

Monday 27th of April... I DON'T BLOODY BELIEVE IT  ... a hail storm has just deposited a 2" layer of ice all over our mountain.

Tuesday 28th of April ... Woke up to find 2" of snow, and yes, there were the gritter lorries loading up.

Me an' Mother Nature are soon gonna seriously fall out.

Motoring

Hi Johnny
Sorry to hear of your troubles, perhaps you should move!
I managed to get my car all the way to Birmingham and back for the Mark 2 seminar, the longest trip she's made for about 8 years. Thankfully, no need of a flatbed truck! Unfortunately, this week I found that the Panhard rod had fractured during the trip.
I'm on leave next week, so a few jobs to do (new Panhard rod, rewiring, heater motor refurb). Plan to be at Thoresby Hall for the big 5-oh.
Best wishes, David
