Jack gear broken

Postby avantphotography » Thu Jan 03, 2008 10:59 pm

Hi all, I've just broken a gear in my 240's jack :( . It's the one connected to the winder (I think it's called a spline gear?). The jack is fine otherwise, so dose anyone know if you can get, or have a replacement gear made as a replacement jack is expensive?
Thanks Andy

Never heard of parts for these and personally wouldn`t use one as they get a little too close to the bodywork for my liking.I made a little piece that attatches to my trolley jack /bottle jack for this so as not to get any where near the body,oh and its a lot easier to use and the bottle jack only takes a little room in the boot .

Thanks for that Jagaz. I've since found out that this one is not the supplied MK11 jack! It is similar to one I,ve seen on e-bay for an XK120. It has only one upright & a Winding handle that has a wooden knob!!

Are you sure it's the wrong jack? The one you describe sounds very similar to mine - wooden knob, etc., but I have an early (1960) Mk 2. I know the design of toolbox changed with the arrival of the 240/340 and maybe the design of jack did, as well.
