2000MY In car telephone

Postby geo912 » Sat Jan 10, 2009 8:49 pm

I am trying to locate a telephone to install. Not too keen on mobiles and bluetooth and wish to maintain the integrity of said beast for nothing other than personal preference. Any help appreciated.

Geo 192..........
in the customising section there are a few items re telephones and information that may be of some use to you........you dont seem to state your exact preference, or exactly what it is you require or what it is inteded for. Either cosmetic which enhances the interior (as i have done) or a working phone hard wired as Dave (admin) has done.......Joe

Thank you joejag308 for your speedy reply, so there is someone out there looking on. I would like to locate a telephone that can be installed and fully functional if this is feasible after eight years, provided that the necessary wiring is in situ or doesn't require a major strip down.
I have as you suggest looked at other postings under Accs/Customising
but most are ancient threads not easy to reignite.Point me in the right direction and I'll go off like a roman candle.

Geo, Have a look at this website - http://www.jaguarcarphone.com/ - from which you can get either a brand new or pre-owned Motorola StarTAC phone. A lot will depend on whether or not your car is wired for a phone.

Mine is a 98 model and was fitted with a Motorola 8700 - working but tatty/cracked etc. I got a brand new replacement (via eBay) from Retrobrick - see http://www.retrobrick.com/motostartac.html - worth comparing prices!

Thanks Mike. The Retrobrick website is very interesting and the Jaguar StarTAC will be just the job, now all I need is a cradle and advice re the wiring etc, but many thanks.

Under the "Electrical" section of this BB there is an item headed "Retro fitting the SATNAV and/or Phone Harness". Only a couple of entries but may be of interest, especially the reference to a past issue of the JEC magazine.

Cheers, Mike

Hi, can I draw your attention to the Jaguar car phone I've got advertised on Ebay (item no. 262495096859) for sale for £110. Taken from a 2002 X308, it's got everything (except the main wiring harness) you need to get going. If you still want one call me on 07812 418119.

I'd really love to think that you guys are successful with the sale of the phone! Do please let us all know if it works out.

A response 7 years after the previous post is a record here on the Bulletin Board!

Cheers
