got ay pics of the install ?
BB
If you mean the installation process then no, but David Marks might have some. He did the work and took at least enough shots to show me what a gutted interior looks like!
If you mean the completed installation then I intend to take a few snaps for the record - i.e. of the H-K speaker grill in the door, the A-pillar tweeters, and the sub-woofer grill as that's all there is visible.
Don't blame you for bottling out. Although you can get the bits for £100 if you're lucky, it's only an obvious upgrade if
a) you're ripping out the interior for some other reason
b) you want to retro-fit some of the options on the "ideal car" spec you drew up but which are missing from the car you ended up buying
c) you're a music nut
d) you have oodles of cash burning a hole in your pocket (around a grand)
e) you're mad
... any or all of the above will do!
All the best,
Nigel

Just a thought
maybe im out of my depth here, but if my car has a fitted sub woofer in the parcel shelf, then why not get the wiring loom from a Daimler,i also have the fitted tweaters in the winscreen posts too.....its not Harmon Kardon its an Alpine system though........your all welcome to have a look see at Newby Hall on Northern Day or at Southern Day too as i will be in attendance with the said beast..........Joe
inquisitve re MP3
I have the FM transmitter device fitted in my car, as an alternative to having to buy a complete new system incorporating ab MP3 player.
Its simple to buy, install, and load (if you use your PC).
My son is going on about having a I POD in the car he says its far more efficient.........
What exactly is this I POD?
Is it easy to install ?
Is there a reccomended model to buy ?
would i have to do any rewiring to install it ?
Is it just a gloryfied FM transmitter ?
Is it expensive to buy?
Thoughts on this would be welcome..............Joe

Joe,
an ' iPod ' in a specific brand of music player, it is made by Apple, and uses its own file format to store music ( not MP3 ) but very similar
an iPod will play MP3's, but generic mp3 players will not play Apples ipod files
it is not an 'FM ' transmitter, it is not necessarily a better music player, but it is the industry standard benchmark for personal music players, and the fashion leader,
minimum cost of an ipod is £100 , they come in several different types, and file size versions , look in your Argos catalogue for all the different types
it is no simpler to send files from an iPod to your stereo than from any other generic mp3 player.....they will both need an FM transmitter or direct wiring into the car stereo system, not easy to do for older ( non usb or external input stereo's ) cars
you best bet is to ( if you can ) , convert the files and write them onto a CD , and pop it into the changer in the boot , this may take some experimenting to get right......
you can get over 1000 songs on a standard single write CD
hope this helps

New Stuff
BB.....All this new equipment is an expensive business, re our conversation on the MP3 issue i have found that in replacing the system head you also have to replace the changer in the boot to an MP3 unit according to Alpine..........then hope it all connects up to the software within the car after replacing the radio head........Joe
