Xenon headlamps

Hi everyone,

I am considering a xenon headlamp conversion to my '98 XJR. Anyone know if:

a) It is possible,
b) How much it may cost,
c) Any specialists who can do the work,

Thanks for that Joe. Hust had a read and I certainly will not be getting involved in fitting different bulbs.

I will contact my local Jaguar dealer for their advice.

Will let the forum know what they say.

Bill the Zenon headlights are a contention with Dave (Admin) read his report and maybe the alternative is the option, a much simpler choice too
it involves just changing bulbs..........Joe

I fitted Xenon bulbs in the headlights of an XJ40 I owned about 5 years ago and they were a great improvement for night driving. WARNING, however, when I put them in the sidelights (the ones set into the front bumper) so that they showed the same colour light, I was given an MOT failure - apparently they were not legal as sidelights.

Hi Mike,

Was your car failed because the sidelights gave a blue hue?

If that is so then they were right to issue a failure. Although common sense could have prevailed and they could have said go change them and we will issue a pass.

Yes turkeybill - a blueish light which looked great on a pale blue car. From then on, I kept a set of ordinary bulbs for MOT use only!!!
