Front wheel bearings

Hi guys,
got a noisy bearing n/s front, easy to change and do i need any special tools?

308 front wheel bearings are notoriously difficult to change

the upright has to come of , secured on the bench, them a special ABS rotor removal tool has to be used to remove the ABS pick up rotor, the bearing has to be pushed out with a press and pushed back in the same way

The ABS rotor is the problem, the torque setting is massive, some one will chime in with the correct figure, the rotor lugs can corrode, leaving the tool not seating correctly, hence making the undo even more difficult. The last one we did we had the rotor red hot , the biggest gorilla breaker bar plus a scaffolding tube and three of us on the bar, it finally came away with a huge "crack", the bench moved, all the crap fell out of the ceiling, an epic front wheel bearing change

Not all will be this bad, but none are easy, the rotor tool is avaibale to hire from our tools and spares, give Annie Jenkins a call

always best to ask first, even if the news is bad, imagine being half into this job and getting stuck, usually on a Sunday afternoon with the other car trapped behind a broken Jaguar, been there!!!
