Just had the front wheels off.....

for my annual checkup...

i have been meaning to get under there for a month now, as its been a year since i put new pads and discs on her, and have covered 12k miles, and had new tyres six months back.....

the brakes had just started to squeal again when warm,

so today i took advantage of the good weather as its gona rain all weekend

with the car up in the air and the wheels off i could see that the discs and pads were almost as new, with no scoring or uneven wear at all, so good news there, i removed the anti-rattle spring, wire brushed down the caliper and copper greased the contact points to help stop the squealing,

checked all the pipes and hoses along with the suspension bushes, for a 96k mile car its in very good order, and no bushes are needed just yet

while she was in the air i decided to look for any fledgling rust spots, and found a few, they were all just surface corrosion hiding under flakey sealant etc, the worst area being the front of the sill section behind the splash guard/mud-flaps, the factory coating had completely given up, so a quick scrape down with a blunt chisel, a bit of a wire brushing , i then put on some rust-stop, let it dry and liberally coated with waxoyle underseal , there were also a few fixing holes and panel seams going the same way, so they had the full treatment to,

fitted all the spalsh guards back along with the cleaned up mud guards ( i like the clips on them ) , popped on the wheels and went for a jolly.....

hang the expense, lol

i did the same to the rear of the car last year, so she should last quite a while now
