Sorry to disagree, Jules, but a palomino has a golden/light tan body colour, with a white mane and tail. This must be classified as a grey, having a white body colour and black pigmentation.
A good horse is never a bad colour, but be wary of chestnut mares and redhaired girls.
Robin.

Run What You Brung! Santa Pod
Afraid the only XJ-S I have is a cabriolet in several bits; however, I would like to bring my Aristocat if not tipping with rain, or low-cost series III XJ6 if it is. I assume that one will not be excommunicated from this forum for being too slow. I note that open topped cars will need arm-protector...

Just before starting her up with the newly charged battery, check both the engine to subframe AND subframe to body earth straps are in good condition. Don't rush into starter motor heroics unless you are sure that your battery is in good condition and holding a full charge. You'r not the only one in...

I have thought of buying a spare myself - does anyone know if one person can move it or is it too heavy i.e. to lift from the boot of the car into the garage?? It is quite easy for one person to lift. In typical Ebay fashion, it was described as being suitable for series III and XJ12 (which could be...

For reasons I won't go into, I have had a little experience of these, and it has been all unpleasant. XJS subframes seem worse than XJ6 subfames - less oil contamination? The design is such that even if you were to remove the head of the shaft completely, it still can only come out one way. The shaf...

Knock from front left-hand side
I have recently stripped down a front subframe and found that what appeared to be an intact spring was in fact broken - just above the final turn as it embedded into the groove of the spring pan. If all ball joints and various bushes are intact, this may be worth considering.

Petrol/gas smell in the boot/trunk
If you can't find a problem with your secondary tank, then I'm afraid its time to take the tank out. They tend to corrode at the bottom (although one would think they are in the driest part of the car). Pratical tip - go the long way around the job and remove the fuel filler assembly including the i...

Replacement of rear inboard discs
Ralph, As Pop said, the proceedure for dropping the rear cage is straightforward, and subsequent stages are uncomplicated but very timeconsuming. The back axle weighs about 3 hundred weight. The exhaust system has to be disturbed. Brake pipe to rear axle disconnected. (Check procedure for bleeding A...

Thanks for that; I'm doing to do that out of curiousity (think I'd best not hold the leads at the same time), but to be honest, she has taken such an affront to me vilifieing her in the forum that she has not missed a beat since, including a 650 mile round trip this weekend to Cornwall. If it aint b...
