Andy,
Delighted to hear you got it going and very happy to help a fellow enthusiast. Totally agree about the frustrations but hope it's all worthwhile.

Re: Radio finally replaced
The reason you have to remove all the jag 'ski slope' is to allow you to press the two clips to allow removal of the original radio. I removed the silver aluminium sleeve originally holding the radio. The new stereo comes with a new purpose built sleeve which goes into the slot (please remember to p...

Re: Radio finally replaced
Hi again, When I initially removed the original radio I unbolted the large earth strap from the chassis to the radio and actually took it out. The radio worked fine but I kept reading how the strap must be attached so I took the new radio out again and put the earth cable back in. The large 'strap' ...

Re: Radio finally replaced
Hi Jonathan,
I still have the old radio but wanted to keep it so that the next owner of the car would have all the original parts so that they could try and fix it if they were able to.
Good luck with your project though as I expect you may have a lot of interested customers.
Regards, Chris

Re: Radio finally replaced
Excellent! Any questions, please ask. I look forward to finding out how it goes.
Although not quite the same as our car this video is very helpful.

Re: Radio finally replaced
Hi Andy and sorry for the delayed reply as I was away for a few days. Stereo JVC KD-R841. £115 from Amazon Fascia adapter FP-14-00. £21.95 from eBay. Harness adapter autoleads pc2-55-4. £5.20 from eBay. I chose the stereo as it is a DIN fitting and has an ISO cable. It is also programmable for day a...

Re: Radio finally replaced
Thanks BB. I never saw the old radio working. It was dead from the day I got the car. This new one plays and charges iPods, plays from USB, bluetooth, aux, CD and it even has a radio :) I generally like to keep the car as original as possible but this new stereo was a fraction of the price of variou...

Radio finally replaced
My radio was completely dead. Absolutely nothing. I made the decision to replace it with a new modern one and spent hours studying all the necessary actions. You never quite know what's going to happen until you finally try. So I did. I picked a JVC radio, the Autoleads ISO adapter and a fascia plat...

Re: Temporary high sustained idle speed after pressing throt
I think the external clean up might have cured it. I visited my local jag dealer today and they said first thing is to try a WD40 cleanup before removing the throttle. There is a recall for my car to increase the throttle spring strength but they couldn't tell if mine has been done. The revs definit...

Re: Temporary high sustained idle speed after pressing throt
My official jaguar dealer quoted me £252. A local used jaguar dealer quoted £67. I've given the linkage a good clean and WD40 but havent driven it since. Will keep you posted. Once again thanks for the advice.

Re: Temporary high sustained idle speed after pressing throt
I started to look into the throttle linkage prior to removing the throttle body and I noticed that whilst the cable is slack, the actual activator was stopping about 2 or 3 mm from its stop. By physically pushing the link it returns to 800 rpm. I used some WD40 and gave it a bit of a clean and it 'b...

Re: Temporary high sustained idle speed after pressing throt
Thank you both. The cable, spring and externally moving items all seem to be operating properly. For me to minimise risk, would squirting one of these carb cleaner sprays through the air intake be any help or am I just wasting time avoiding the inevitable? Something like Wynns air intake and carb cl...

Temporary high sustained idle speed after pressing throttle
I have a 1994 X300 Sovereign 4 litre auto with about 46,000 miles on the clock. Everything works OK and the car is perfectly usable but it has a habit of keeping the revs up at about 1500 to 2000 RPM after I have pressed the throttle. After a while this drops down to the usual 800 tickover. Is this ...
