Re: what years was black paint colour available?
thanks yeah Ive trawled through that, it does take detective work like you say. I couldnt really determine anything meaningfull to differentiate on my car from 60/61 to 67. Just was wondering if there was anything obviousl or easy to see to help date that I might have missed. I agree, suspect the do...

Re: what years was black paint colour available?
thanks all good tips. I did check under the rear seat but couldnt see a plate and it looks like there has been some welding repairs both sides in the past. I will strip off the paint on the slam panel just in case there is a number under there. What I have found so far is: it has a 3.4 engine with t...

Re: what years was black paint colour available?
Thanks. Yes I bought that book but I interpreted it that black was only a standard colour for 67-69 but that must have been wrong I guess. It would seem likely a colour that was available every year. the reason I cant ascertain the year is because I cant actually find any identifying marks on the ca...

what years was black paint colour available?
Hi, I am starting to come to the conclusion that the original colour of my car was black whereas I had thought it had been a cream colour under the current BRG. So I was wondering, as there's different dated parts on my car, if this may give me a clue as to the possible year(s) or manufacture that b...

Re: At last i will be on the road this coming week.
Thanks that's good to know. Yes I do need to learn some new skills, but I know how you have felt then over the years - I still have a part restored '74 stingray I started as a light project in 2006 and now it sits under a cover 24/7. Just lost interest and moved on to other things but one day i'll c...

Re: hello new member with mk2 and a lot of work to do!
thanks I'll have a good look - have the rear seat up but didn't notice anything there before but will look again. Can I ask another question - were the cars in the factory painted with a kind of red oxide primer before the colour coat? Pretty sure my car was black or a very dark blue originally, but...

hello new member with mk2 and a lot of work to do!
Hi all, earlier this year I purchased by chance find a pretty sorry but reasonably solid (I hope!) mk2. Ive not had much chance to do anything with it yet but am going to make a start shortly. Can anyone tell me if there is any other place on the body of the car that I can find some identification o...
