XJS Rear Trailing Arm Suspension Mounting Measurements
Hi I am welding an area on my 89 XJS V12 coupe that looks like it has had a couple of bodged repairs. Consequently I need to know what the distance is between centres of the two bolts where the radius arms mount to the body near the two jacking points so I can repair properly. Its just the distance ...

I have an S2 OTS '70 (note LHD so has USA carbon canisters). Mine too had a really strong smell, I cant believe yours has exactly the same problem but here goes anyway after you have checked the things that Dave K has checked which are much easier. The pipethat comes from the filler to the tank (tha...

distributor and rotor arm
so, If I get this right, rotor arms just fail when warm, does anyone know why and how to detect one that is likely to do that?
As for ignition systems, anyone know where to get a distributor baseplate for for a 22D6 dizzy too? Mines a little worn.

Electronic Ignition, rotor arms
seems to be a lot of myth and legend around these topics from issues with certain electronic ignition units causing problems with the tacho and with some dodgy rotor arms. Anyone know the truth about these and any suggestions? There looks like a nice simple electrionic ignition system on ebay item n...

inlet only required (on mine they were only fitted to inlet), the low pressure on the suction (inlet) stroke sucks the oil down the guides (hence the seals to limit it (but oil is still needed down the guide). The exhaust valves are the opposite way round since they have high pressure pushing exhaus...

shiming of exhaust valves
Just had new seats in the exhaust valves, and new valves, lapped them in and now shiming up. Trouble is can only seem to get shims to 110 thou (Z stamping), I need 3 that are larger, 121, 116 and 112 though for 3 of the new valves. Does anyone know of anywhere that stocks larger shims in the sizes a...

oil filter housing
I have my engine in bits at the minute doing a rebuild as the car is in the painters. Anyway, I have the oil filter housing removed, and it looks nothing like the one in the Sc Parts / SNG / E Type jag parts catalogues. Its similar in shape but then has a larger circular boss cast as part fo it also...
