xjs use getting further away
Pop Just been reading this post. Hope all turns out good for you. Please don’t sell the XJS. A few weeks ago, probably about the time you posted this, my son, who is five wasn’t very well. My wife and I were up and down most of the night. As with most sleepless nights, you lie awake there staring at...

New forum topic.....excuses to wife / partner?
Ask the garage to separate the bill. Pay the expensive part on your credit card, pay a small amount from your current account. That way, the wife always sees a nice low bill coming off the bank account. "I told you dear, your Corsa in much more expensive to run than the XJS" Seriously, my wife is pr...

Disappointed in James May. Clarkson is there for the entertainment, as is Hammond, but May, I classed as the respected motoring journalist who knew a bit about cars. If May said the earth was flat, I’d probably believe him! I shall stop reading his column in the Telegraph for fear of being mis-infor...

I remember where it was.
James May road tested a KWE XJS on Top Gear.
He commented that the XJS was supposed to be mid engined, but Jaguar changed their mind, and the buttresses remained.

Paul,
I did read it somewhere I am sure. I'm going to look into it again.
Otherwise, i'm going to sound very stupid

I can confirm (if my view suffices
) that the XJS was going to be mid-engined.
Not sure however why the idea was ditched - Paul?

Nice link. Enjoyed that. Just woke my son up in the next room with the noise. I'm in for it now with the wife

It’s sad to think that the XJS’s life may have been cut so prematurely short, if the XJ41 project had run more smoothly. I think I need to read more into Jaguar during the eighties, and the BL days. I know that the XJ-S was not widely liked as a successor to the E-Type, but from what I have read thr...

You are an asset to Jaguar ownership (I don’t mean that in a patronising way). It’s great to see people spending money on keeping these classics on the road. 10K is a lot of money in anyone’s books. I too am working my way through replacing a lot of the parts on my 1994, as funds become available. B...

Looks good - love the colour.
If you don't mind my asking, how much have you spent to get it to this condition?

Thanks Paul,
Did Jaguar intend to have the buttresses on the XJ41? Its hard to tell looking at the photo.
The profile at the rear on your photo appears to be similar to the XJS.

It would appear the DB7 shared the chassis, front and rear suspension. The early DB7’s also suffered from steering wheel wobble, so I would would guess it shared brakes as well!

Does anyone know what was retained from the XJS to form the DB7?
Are we talking about just the chassis?
