Re: Reaction Valve
OK. Apologies for time wasting. And yes, I do feel like a plonker. After a chat with Scott at J&L Spares, it turns out that the "plug" which I described is actually the rear of the missing piston. It was seized so tightly in the bore that it may as well have been a plug. But anyway I've got it out n...

Reaction Valve
My question lies with the brake master cylinder which I've stripped ready to fit a new seal kit. The workshop manual and parts drawings show that there is a small piston fitted inside the forward end of the master cylinder. The seal kit that I got has some tiny seals and o-rings to refurbish this pi...

V12 Torsion Bars
I'm Starting to get my 1974 V12 2+2 ready for the summer. I'll have to take the engine out as the rear exhaust manifold is cracked. While I'm at it I'll probably do the clutch as well. The car is currently 2-3 inches lower at the front than it should be. The manual says that height can be adjusted u...

Ignition Mysteries
I have a 1973 V12 E-Type that has been converted to Optronic ignition by a previous owner. Now that I've put a few miles on the car, I notice that she's reluctant to rev over 3000RPM. I suspected the centrifugal advance but this seems to be ok. The vacuum unit has no effect however and I can hear le...

Hi
If you have the engine out for clutch replacement I would suggest prop shaft UJ's and clutch slave cyl replacement

Numbers
Hi Neil The term refers to the numbers matching those that the car originally had when leaving the factory, thus ensuring the car is original in its major components, Engine GBox, Body, Frame. If in doubt regarding what your numbers should be you can get a heritage certificate for a few pounds which...

Door Shut Lines
Hi Peter Has anything changed to bring about the poor fit or has it been this way since you have had the car? If for example you have changed doorcard trim or sealing rubbers then this might be something to investigate. If the door is "out" of its aperture ie proud front and rear then hinge and stri...
