Re: Noise When Turning Right
Mystery solved! It turned out the problem was the drivers-side rear brake caliper getting stuck on. Funny thing, anyone in the car would have sworn the sound was on the left side, but the problem was on the right side. And I wonder why it only whines when we turned right? Grange Jaguar Exeter did a ...

Re: Noise When Turning Right
I've had a go at the not turning right strategy - got some funny looks in the round-abouts... The noise seems to come from lower in the back of the car - but I'll give the power steering fluid top-up a whirl. Believe it or not, the noise seems to only happen when two people are in the front, and one...

Noise When Turning Right
Hi! I'm new to the X-type forum. Sorry, my other Jag is the green S-type-R in my profile picture. Does anyone have any ideas about why: My 2006 X-Type Estate SE, 2.5L, Automatic, AWD, 75,000 miles: Has started making an audible humming sound when I make a right-hand turn, under power, such as accele...

Re: Future classic
Come on guys! All cars built today use computers to function. It would be impossible for manufacturers to offer us the performance and features otherwise. All Jaguars use roughly the same electronics, wiring looms, switches, connectors, including the S-Type. For decades, Rolls Royce, Land Rover, Ast...

Re: Satellite Navigation Upgrade
No, I've never got a "DSC" not available message...Am interested to know if you upgraded. My 2003 model STR satnav chooses some absurd local routes using main roads when side roads are a third of the distance. Incidentally, do you ever get a dashboard message saying "DSC" not available ?

Satellite Navigation Upgrade
I'm thinking about spending £34.99 for the Jaguar SatNav 2012 upgrade disk for the S-Type, as sold on www.satnavi.com My 2008 STR still uses the original factory SatNav map-set, which has led me astray a few times because new roads have been built since the map-set was installed. Has anyone had expe...

Hello Doug,
I'd enjoy meeting a bunch of STR owners. When is "Northern Day at Newby Hall"?

Re: Tyres for S-Type R
My STR has only 10,00 miles on it, and it has the original Pirelli P-Zeros all around. Cost is always a nusance, but you could maybe start at you local friendly Jaugar dealer for some clues.
I hope you enjoy your STR as much as I enjoy mine. Hope to see you and your new beauty at a meeting sometime.

Re: Clear Coat Sratches
Thanks! That sounds very encouragng BB - I'll try it and report back to the group. There's really only one clear coat scratch on my car that I'll try your technique on, it's about 6 inches long, seems to go well into the clear coat, but there's no evidence it reached the paint. It's on the passenger...

Re: Dates of Manufacture
That's interesting Chris, thanks! It's funny that there doesn't seem to be any reliable way for us Joe Blogs to find out when the last S-Types were built, and of course my favorite - When was the last S-Type-R built? I stumbled across an interesting site - run by a guy who's figured out how to inter...

Re: Dates of Manufacture
For anyone interested, I've finally managed to post my STR to the JEC Vehicle Registry, with a few wee pics added. Getting back to my fixation with the last dates of manufacture for S-Types: Given that, according to Jaguar's website, the 2008 model year S-Type was built between January 2007 and Marc...

Re: Clear Coat Sratches
When searching for a hand scratch remover I tried around 7 or 8 various products, (mostly all borrowed from one of my other Car Club Members) none of which worked for me, in the process I also tried various hand pad applicators too, anyway to cut a long story short this is the combo that eventually...
