Carb problems....
I have tried setting up the carbs but get very rough running at medium/high revs and the engine reaches about 4000rpm and no more. Any ideas? I have tried every setting known to man. The front float valve was sticking and that's now sorted. The front carb piston can be manually moved up through the ...

Brakes holding on to pressure???
Right - update from my other braking thread - master cylinder seals replaced, system bled and now a good brake!!! BUT - system holds pressure so after a few braking episodes the brakes bind and bleed nipples need easing off/on to release and get the pressure back to normal. Any ideas as to why this ...

MK2 Dunlop brake bleed nipples- mine are nadgered so I have new ones to fit when I bleed the brakes in the next couple of days to restore a really bad pedal Q: The new replacements have a ball bearing - whats this for - I ...

Piston ring replacement
Does anyone out there know if the rings on a 4.2 engine can be replaced from beneath, ie can the piston and rod be withdrawn & refitted?
very many thanks

Re: Very poor footbrake
There's the important bit:
The brake fluid is foamy... It won't bleed clear.
Pressure on the foot brake doesn't reveal any obvious leaks though. Could that still be shot master cylinder seals? Does it exclude servo?
Cheers for your help

Re: Very poor footbrake
Hi Jagaz.
No fluid loss from the reservoir of pipes apart from from bleeding the rear brakes. I think the main thing is: is there a way for air to get into the system particularly via the master cylinder?
Cheers

Re: temperature gauge dead
OK.... sender unit wires were dodgy at the spade ends so gauge now works, sorry to be thick on this but where is the temperature sensor take-off on the engine? I have closed the bonnet for the day having had a bit of a day of it (see posts re brakes and exhaust)

Re: Very poor footbrake
Right...... servo OK, no loss of fluid anywhere. Have bled the rear brakes today and fluid is very milky, and huge problem getting any kind of decent footbrake all despite bleeding a 1 litre of fluid through. One moment the pedal is at the top, two pumps later on the floor again. The brake master cy...

Re: temperature gauge dead
Alec Thanks for that yes I will go into this at the weekend. The fuses by the exhaust manifolds are a ok, how do I access the voltage regulator behind the instrument panel? Other gauges work ok it's just fuel and temperature. If you know anyone who wants the 1963 mk2 with a 4.2 engine as a running r...

temperature gauge dead
The temperature gauge is of the non working variety. Is there a likely cause or a way of testing? Where does it link to the engine?

Very poor footbrake
The brakes pedal just about works at the floor level and pumps up slightly. A full bleed is clearly necessary but are there any known problems with the servo that would also account for this?
