Re: Valet mode stuck - no black key or fob
Thanks Mike I've been spraying WD40 in for the past few days but the key won't budge yet. I'll keep trying and see how I go. I may have pressed the valet button by mistake when I went to press the boot release but can't be sure. I'll try over the weekend with the boot lock but if this fails I will t...

Valet mode stuck - no black key or fob
Hi Everyone I've got a slight issue with my 2002 XK8 and would appreciate any advice. I bought her with only the green key and the fob was not working. I tested the fob and it is emitting a signal so figured the problem may be the receiver in the boot. Carried on happily driving the car and got a sp...

Re: Back in an XK8 at last but one issue
Hi Guys Thank you both for your really helpful replies. Funnily enough I drove down to Brighton last night from Milton Keynes and the noise appears to have gone!. I have driven her with the Aircon off for a couple of days and had the blowers going so maybe it did clear itself. My last XK8 was my fir...

Re: Back in an XK8 at last but one issue
Hi All I spent a couple of hours trying to find out what was happening and I have now managed to get the car into program mode (I had to have the door open for some reason) but the keyfob still doesn't work so I will try getting another fob online. The odd noise from the glovebox turns out to be the...

Back in an XK8 at last but one issue
Hi Guys I have a real passion for Jags and the XK8 in particular. I had to sell my beloved 1998 XK8 about four years ago and have been driving a 1997 XJ6 in the past year. I finally took the plunge and bought a lovely 2002 XK8 4.2 but there is one issue (known when I bought it) that I could use some...

XJ6 3.2
Hi Everyone After three years without a Jag (my last one was a 1997 XK8) I'm finally back in one again. I just bought a 1997 XJ6 3.2 in dark blue and she is lovely!. There is a slight misfire I think when ticking over and a few light areas of rust here and there but the car drives very nicely and I'...

Hi guys
My 1997 xk8 has some Rezistanz end cans fitted which sound great. Not sure where the previous owner got them from but I love the sound!
Cheers

New tyres for my 18 inch xk8 wheels
Hi everyone I've had my 1997 xk8 for almost a year and it has been without doubt the best year of my life in terms of motoring! I've covered about 8000 miles and the front tyres which were pretty worn to begin with needed to be replaced so after much searching online I called my local regular tyre g...

Re: Screen wash cap fallen into the engine!
Hi Guys
Many thanks for the great replies.
I did a 160 mile round trip today so I'm guessing the cap has gone by now!.
Many thanks for the warning about the mirror - I'll order one asap.
Best regards
Dave

Screen wash cap fallen into the engine!
I picked up my 1997 xk8 today after having the roof lining re upholstered (the guy did a great job) but I stopped at the garage on the way home to fill up the screen wash tank and when I got home the cap had fallen into the engine bay. It slipped down beneath the washer fluid filler and is now out o...

Re: Stalling and misfiring when cold
Hi everyone Another thank-you to you all for taking the time to suggest some solutions. In fact the problem cleared itself so I'm guessing it was muck from the petrol tank getting into the injectors. I put in some STP injector cleaner and the problem went away. I have since covered over 500 miles wi...

Re: Stalling and misfiring when cold
Hi David
Many thanks for your post.
I did wonder about the fuel filter and I'm booking her in with my mechanic so he can take a look.
Would old spark plugs cause this?. I don't think they have been changed for a few years judging by the paperwork I inherited with the car.
Best regards
Dave

Re: Stalling and misfiring when cold
Hi Allan Many thanks for the prompt and useful reply!. I'll try that first. My brother in law plugged the laptop with code reading software into my car and no error codes were recorded and none have appeared on the dash as yet. I tried again this morning and the engine tried to stall at speed and lum...

Stalling and misfiring when cold
Hi Everyone I bought my beautiful XK8 last September and thanks to you guys here I had all the dodgy bits done (timing chains, water pump and thermostat etc). I've now covered 3,500 miles and it's been a real pleasure and I love my car to bits. In the past week though I've had a problem. I started h...
