Re: XK8 - Topping up differential.
Not the breather the level plug about 3/4 of the way up the diff I ground off the drive end of an extension bar -then put flats on the rounded shaft of the bar to fit a ratchet spanner keeping it all as slim as possible - then with a little bit of manouvering you can locate the drive in the plug and...

Doug my car is a 2002 coupe and is definitely doable - I live in Ashford so feel free to pop round and I will gladly show you on my car - I take the plug out every other service to check the level

Re: XK8 - Topping up differential.
Can be topped up through the level plug at the top -I made up a shortened drive unit to fit in the plug and attached to a ratchet spanner as you have said access is tight but it is possible and not that difficult once you get the tools right I sucked all my oil out on mine using a pump and refilled ...

Re: Electric Mirrors
The mirrors are quite easy to change you just gently prize the glass out they clip in - They are more tricky to get back in but can be done with patience. I have just changed my complete door mirror unit including the glass. My advice would be to pop the back cover off when you remove the glass as i...

Can anyone advise how you remove the headrests on the front seats of the XK8 - my model is a 2002 and I am thinking of having the leather replaced - this will mean the removal of the headrest
Any advice help welcome

Re: scissor lift or 2 post lift ?
I have a scissor lift that lifts my xk8 no problem at all it is without doubt the best tool I have ever purchased cost around 1200 but worth every penny access is good and I have not tackled anything that it has got in the way of yet

Re: Timing chain replacement
Thanks Mike
I have had another look at it and I think there is plenty of room if you just remove the fans - the only issue I can see might be around the puller for the crank pulley - but there still seems to be a lot of room.
I have a lift so that makes life loads easier as you say.
Cheers

Re: Replacing the Steering Rack 2001 MY XKR
If it is the same as my 2002 xk8 it is one of the easiest jobs you will ever do on the car - four bolts that hold it on easy to see and get at -power steering pipes again not to difficult and track rod ends -mine as I guess yours will just drops out the bottom
Should give you no problems
