After pulling and swapping relays the drivers side worked fine but the other would go down not up or up not down faulty relay? These are an A1001-X49 the X49 means special specification but no details are available so i ordered a s/hand unit from eBay and it's working The old unit had no continuity ...

Hi and thanks for all your information I’ve been working on this all afternoon checking circuits and connections and in the end I swapped the up and down relay’s over and the widows go up and don’t come down So you were right in your thoughts I would not have expected 2 relay’s to go faulty at the s...

Hi JIm
There's 4 relays.Each side has an up and a down relay so i thinks it's a problem with the up circuit but just where is stretching my auto electrical skills

Sorry it's a 2001 XKR so X100
I have done a few miles before i dropped the roof
Everything else works fine just both rear windows won't come up so i can't see it being both relays or motors gone at once

Sorry for my poor terminology. Yes i have the HY-VO type chain.
So this regular tapping i have ( sounds like a tappet or piston slap)that goes after about 30 seconds, do you have any more thoughts as to what you think it could be.

Ive owned this car since it was 34 months old and 35,00 miles and change the oil and filter every year regardless so i don't think it should need flushing but a good idea to use an oil gauge Mike. Hi .My 2001 XKR auto headlamp mode has stopped working.Ive found that a grey wire that comes down the stalk to the back of the switch has come off,but i can't tell which terminal it should attach to. Could anyone help please.

The final word on this is that the nylon washers face the bushing.David Marks has kindly checked on several cars for me and can confirm this.Thanks again for everyones help with this matter.

Hi Mike.yes i agree with you and that is the way I've fitted them but the nylon washers just float around and seem to serve no purpose.That is why i am confused,all logic and looking at the remains of the old parts seem to indicate that is the way round but when fitted they just don't look right.
